Colorful Dresses - Choose Your Shade!

Dresses come in every imaginable color, shade and pattern, and each option says something about you, your personal style and even your mood for the day. Having a wardrobe full of dresses in many colors allows you to express what you want to say on any given day in many different ways!

Start with basic black; it's not just the color of mourning anymore. Although the Gothic subculture has claimed black as its own, wearing it doesn't mean you have to like vampires. Black is one of the most universal colors and a dress in black is a classic look that comes in many forms. It can be short and sexy or long and glamorous. It can be dressed up or down for a casual or more evening ready look. There is very little a black dress can't do, including moving effortlessly from day to evening with just a change of accessories.

A red dress says a lot about you, and it says it loud and clear. Red is a color that can't be missed, and is a sign of a woman who is confident, proud, and wants to be the center of attention. If you can't stand to blend into a crowd, then red is always a good choice. It doesn't have to be fire engine red either - a darker red can have the same impact and is often more flattering to certain skin tones. Red dresses don't need much in the way of accessories to make a splash, so keep it simple and let your color choice speak for itself.

Other primary colors can have the same effect if they are in bright shades. Blue and green will stand out just as easily and are perfect dresses for a woman who wants to be noticed. A bright yellow is like a ray of sunshine and makes people who see it feel cheerful and want to smile in your direction.

Metallic dresses are a great choice for nightlife, especially for clubbing as the lights in the club will make your dress shimmer and shine, drawing all eyes to you. Silver and gold each have a slightly different message; gold is a warmer color and also has associations with wealth and power. Silver on the other hand is a cooler tone, and reminds the eye of moonlight and mystery.

Subdued colors like pastels are great for day wear, and they don't have to be boring or fade into the background. Choose interesting combinations of colors that draw the eye, or something with a brighter accent to grab attention. A more subtle color on your dress allows you to play around more with makeup and accessories to change the look and adapt it to how much or how little extra glamour you choose to add.

Some colors work great with paler skin tones, while others work best with darker ones. Because every color comes in multiple shades, you are sure to find the shade that best compliments your skin, eyes and hair color. Find your perfectly colored dress and stock your closet with all the colors of the rainbow so you can express yourself every day!

Brief History of Women's Clothing
Women are considered to be more fashionable than men. In most cases, this assumption is true as women are always concerned about their looks and clothes. Men, on the other hand, do not worry about their looks or wardrobe to a great degree. Given this universal trend and passion of women for their clothing and wardrobe, there always have been some designs and costumes that catch these ladies' attention and make them compete against each other.

The history of women's clothing dates back to Roman and Egyptian dynasties. Cleopatra is considered to be the first most beautiful women in the world with her own style of clothing. Gowns, tiaras and other clothing of that time are attributed to Cleopatra. Additionally, Cleopatra was also known for her great taste in clothing that forced her to look for innovations in her dress and accessories.

After the fall of the Roman Empire, women in the rising Persian dynasty adopted the fashion sense and started wearing Roman cloths, with some alterations. They also introduced long frocks to comply with the desert heat of that region. This trend, when combined with the traditional Arab robes, gave way to a colorful yet elegant style of dressing where women kept their faces covered, but made these veils into great display of traditional handicraft, among other things.

Islamic kingdoms introduced their own style of women's clothing that was inspired by the lands they conquered, but also had the elements of Islamic modesty. Mughal dynasty will always stand out among Muslim kingdoms, as it combined the local women clothing of India and mixed with Persian, Turkish and Arabic style of women clothing. The result was a fabulous amalgam of women's clothing that included intricate designs, jewels embedded into clothing, gold and silver laced clothing and other great pieces of art that were worn by the women royalty.

Western clothing for women at that time was also undergoing a dynamic change. Women were trying to abandon the old style frocks and maxis and were adopting shorter versions of these clothes. The emancipation of women under the enlightment period offered them great opportunities to change their clothing.

Many women adopted clothing that was similar to males, but with some added features. Pants, skirts and dress shirts became a norm and women started copying male's clothing in their casual wear too. That was the time when some women started wearing men's sleeping suits instead of their nighties.

The situation has become much clearer now as women are reverting to old style of clothing, but with some moderation. Frocks and tank tops are again becoming in vogue and many women are turning towards skirts instead of pants. However, Denim remains the most favorite item of women's clothing, especially the younger ones.

Indian style short shirts, called Kurtis are also making a wide impact in the United Kingdom's women clothing industry. These shirts are relatively larger than average European short shirt and are embellished with great designs and works of art.

FAB Fabrics - A Look at Eco-Friendly Fabrics and Their Properties
There are so many fabrics out there that the fashion world has started to recognise as being both great to design with and good for the planet. Looking at Eco-fabrics is not as simple as man-made or natural, organic or not. It is about everything from how they are grown, where, how, by whom, what methods are used, how much is paid and how does this affect the planet?

It is also important to see using eco-fibers as something that will ensure the long term health of our planet and not just people jumping on the trendy green band wagon. There are many misconceptions about natural fabric production and many facts that are not known.

An eco-fabric will be something that it is good to grow that fits in with the local wildlife and plantation and will not harm the land or the workers involved when it is harvested. The dyes used, have to be chemical free and natural and would be produced locally to where it is grown rather than flown miles away. An eco-fabric is durable and requires only low temperatures to wash and air dries quickly, and will decompose naturally when disposed of.

There are many types of eco fabrics available including wool from different animals and fabrics produced from various plants, and even some materials made from recycled plastics.

From Animals: Alpaca's have thick coats and make incredibly warm clothing, the fiber is stronger, lighter and more resilient than tradition sheep wool, it is finer than cashmere and equally as warm as Gortex. Sheep's Wool is also taken ethically without using a technique called "mule sing" which takes a layer of skin off their backsides to stop flies. Wool from all animals traditionally used (sheep, llama, goats and camels) has antibacterial properties and built in U.V. ray protection. It's soft but strong, lasts well, and is wrinkle dirt and fire resistant.

From Plants: Bamboo grows at an amazing rate and is one of the planets most sustainable resources and it's 100% biodegradable. As a fabric it is super soft, stretchy, breathable, absorbent, hypoallergenic and anti bacterial and can be burnt and made into a fabric for extra deodorizing properties, ideal for socks.

Hemp is also a great fabric to make clothing from, although it is not soft to touch, it is very durable, water resistant and washes easily, which makes it ideal for outdoor wear. Ingeo is made from corn and is like a natural but man-made version of polyester which is a synthetic. It is great, used in pillows, duvets, clothing and even carpeting. It is the first commercially viable natural but man-made fabric.

Organic Cotton is organic in the methods it is grown in and harvested and doesn't harm the environment by using nasty chemicals and pesticides, which inevitably effect our water supply.

Organic Silk is also available without the cost to the environment; the properties of silk are well known.

From Other Sources: Tencel is a natural man-made fiber developed from the pulp of trees grown on land unsuitable for crops or grazing. Soya is made from a tofu manufacturing waste product where the soy protein is liquefied and makes a soft material. Somalor is also extracted from corn but can be dyed to make really vibrant, exciting colors. Sashwashi is made from Japanese paper and the kumazasa herb and is similar to linen.

There are many eco friendly fabrics available to make any designers fashions fashionable with the green crowd too. Saving the planet is just a little bit trendy at the moment but hopefully these eco-friendly fabrics will become more of a main stream manufacturing habit the whole world can wear!

How to Choose Stylish & Fashionable Clothes For the Autumn

Summer is soon on its way out and autumn is starting to take its toll on the weather and in-turn on what we wear. This means wrapping up warm is essential and the key to looking good is with how you present yourself.

One of the many fashion accessories that have come back into the limelight this year is scarves, and particularly in men who have set a fashion trend off by wearing them with shirts for a smart-casual appearance. This method can still work and you will find plenty of men carrying off a smart-casual dress sense this autumn time. If you have a male member of the family whose birthday is approaching in this period of the year check out some of the incoming styles on home shopping websites to get some ideas, you will notice that black polished shoes, black slim fit trousers, shirts, scarves and black trench coats will be all the rage, keeping men warm but making them look chic and fabulous.

For women we have already seen the impact that ugg boots have made over the past few years and these are expected to return this year. The fashion trend for females seems to be heading towards a more comfortable approach rather than a formal one with ugg boots, black tights, slim fitting skirts and sweatshirts/cardigans being at the forefront of most females minds.

Invest in Yourself, Design Your Future
When you invest in yourself you can design the future you want to have. Life is not about reality it is about each person's perception of reality. You can change the perceptions of others by the way you dress. You control whether someone believes you are credible, trustworthy, honest and competent. You can shift the direction of someone else's thoughts about you by your visual communication and presentation. Have you heard anyone suggest that if you go shopping, you should dress well, and you will receive better service? People attribute all kinds of agreeable characteristics to people they think are attractive. You can make yourself more attractive by dressing appropriately for the circumstances you face each day.

Think about how you want people to perceive you and dress with this in mind. Do you want to look approachable or formidable? If you want to be approachable wear a sweater instead of the power piece, a blazer or suit jacket. If you want to appear formidable you definitely want to add the blazer or suit jacket, it gives the look of authority. These are two distinctly different types of dress. Are you giving a presentation or are you trying to be part of the team? When giving a presentation you want to stand out, be the center of attention, you need to dress with these goals in mind. When you want to blend in with the crowd and be part of the team, wear something that everyone else is wearing or something similar. That is why uniforms are frequently worn by teams; uniforms provide a sense of belonging and help people to reach common goals.

Consistency in your dress also matters; and goes a long way toward designing someone's perception of you. So before you get dressed, assess your day and determine what you want people to think about you. Dress with the characteristics in mind that you want people to think about you. Here are a few attributes that researchers assign to certain colors:

• Black - Creativity
• Red - Power
• Blue - Peace
• Green - Balance
• Gold - Prosperity
• Orange - Energy
• Purple - Royalty

When you dress, think about how you want to design the opinions of others, how you want to influence them. Add colors that support the message that you want to get out to the public and wear clothes that are designed to send the message you want to send. You are in control, and what you want makes a difference, be sure your visual presentation and communication let other people know what is important to you!

Fashion Forecast - Hip Maternity Clothes
Seize the spectacular opportunity pregnancy brings, because fashion trends are on your side. Surely your Latin teacher taught you carpe diem means "shop right now!" Get fit, stay fit, buy tons of leggings and blousy tops, and invest heavily in really cute belly bands.

A couple of years ago, leggings began their comeback. Updated from the eighties, new millennium leggings are slimmer and sleeker than the Jennifer Love Hewitt autograph models from back in the day. Today's leggings look sleeker, sexier, and more flattering; but, good news for expectant moms, they also contain double the Lycra of the so-last-century heavyweights. Because they stretch all directions instead of just two like the oldies, new leggings comfortably glide over and cradle you and your growing baby until well into your second trimester. If you eat right and stay fit, your new leggings will stay comfortable until you go into labor.

Maintaining your loyalty to fashion, of course, you must not give up all the cute clothes already hanging in your closet. Look in your thesaurus: you will see that "pregnant" is not a synonym for "fat," "frumpy," "lame," or "flat-out ugly." Reading all the "what to expect..." books, you also will realize that nowhere-absolutely nowhere!-is it written that you must wear cottony-stretchy turtleneck things with duckies and kittens printed all over them. The rules do not say you must wear baggy Oshkosh B'Gosh overalls and forfeit your signature look. Pregnancy may challenge you, but it is not supposed to punish you. Even your baby feels embarrassed when you look like a renegade from the 1950's. Cute, fashion-forward belly bands let you keep on wearing all your cute tops and sexy jeans. They provide that little bit of extra room the baby needs to stretch out.

Meanwhile, complementing all those great new leggings and all those great jeans you already had, tunics, short and versatile tank-strap and gathered short dresses, and billowy blouses have returned. These updated classics promise to stay au currant for several seasons. Invest, girl. Invest! You know the look: After your baby makes her debut, you will wear the short dresses and tunics alone or with your very slinkiest jeans. While you and the baby grow, wear them with your leggings or jeans, and blend right in with all those poor girls who do not yet have the joy of expecting a baby.

What is the Difference Between Screen Printing & Embroidery?
For people who are not in the custom printed shirts business there is confusion sometimes between the two most popular forms of apparel decorating. Custom Printing is a method at which the material is imprinted using a screened frame, squeegee and plastisol ink. There is a lot that goes into producing a screen printed product. Screen printing is used on a variety of materials such as, apparel, stickers, labels, signs, etc.. Embroidery on the other hand is used solely on cloth material. In today's world embroidery is produced by using thread, computers and an embroidery machine. An embroidery machine is similar to a sewing machine. An embroidery machine uses a needle, thread and a bobbin. As in embroidery, screen printing uses computers to help produce the final image that you see on all the t-shirts in the world.

A computer is the main source for outputting artwork for the screens that are necessary to print an image onto a shirt or any other material where screen printing is the chosen method of decoration. Screen Printing has gotten a bad reputation over the years because of printers that do not take the time or responsibility necessary to ensure that a garment is cured correctly. Cured simply means, dried. If the ink that goes on a shirt isn't properly dried before it is put through a wash cycle the printed image will start to crack and fall off the shirt. Steps have to be taken to ensure that this doesn't happen. The number one source of the problem is the dryer that the shirts go through to cure the ink that is printed on them. If the dryer is properly maintained and synchronized to each job then the problem will cracking and peeling will not occur. Screen Printing is a much more affordable method of decoration.

However, embroidery seems to be the preferred method in some cases. Where as screen printing is great for any type of t-shirt, embroidery has what seems to be a more professional look to it. Business owners usually choose embroidery for their decoration method when they are in the market for apparel items such as polo shirts, woven shirts, caps or visors. Embroidery does cost more then screen printing because the price is determined by the number of stitches in the logo. It may take 10,000 stitches to produce the same image that one single screen can produce in screen printing. So if you're going for that more professional look for your business chose embroidery.

If you are on a budget chose a screen printed image on your business apparel. That extra savings could allow you in the long run to purchase that next piece of equipment that you need to take you to the next level. We at Amarisas hopes this helps you understand not only the difference between screen printing and embroidery but it also allows you to make the best decision on your decorating method for your next custom apparel purchase.

What it Takes to Make it in Fashion
Being in the fashion industry can be a tough job. It takes a lot of time to build up a legitimate career that you can make a living from. You may have to start small interning at big businesses or training local boutiques. You may even have to work for the crazy lady who sells her handmade baby dresses and baby clothes online out of her attic. It may seem painful and tedious at the time, but once you graduate to a new level of success it will be worth it. While your toiling away at your beginners job, just keep the image of your fashion line being featured at fashion week in your mind.

Part of being successful in fashion is having connections. Almost no one can succeed in this industry without good social networking. You have to go out to parties and get your name out there. Try interning for a bigger company to open up opportunities. You may spill coffee on a cute assistant who needs a date to a fashion event, or deliver laundry to a top name designer. These types of things will open the doors of fashion for you. Don't just expect for fame to come your way. In addition to working hard, you have to make success know your name.

Another part of being successful with fashion is good training. If you want to be a designer, it is most likely that no one will be impressed by your basement sewing machine. There are some who can get by using pure talent alone, but going to fashion school is one of the fastest way to rocket to the top. Design school will open doors for you and set up work for you after college as well as give you very good credentials. Plus, who knows who you may meet while going to school. A famous French designer's nephew may ask you for your number and you could end up going to Paris for the summer meeting some of the most talented designers ever to live.

Studying abroad is also something you should keep in mind. Traveling far away from family and what you're used to can be very scary, but the truth is that the core of fashion exists beyond our country. Places like Paris, Milan, Hong Kong and Amsterdam are thriving fashion cities. Just think about all the opportunities that may befall you in those places.

Don't let all the work that goes into the fashion industry scare you away. If you are truly passionate about fashion, it will be worth it. Working in the industry you love is very important. If you get scared away from this, you may end up working a boring office job you dislike. Do you want to spend your days wondering what might have happened if your pursed your dream. Don't let regret enter your life, go for your dreams. Fashion can be a tough world to break into, but with good connections and the right work ethic it is also easy to succeed.

Fall 2009 Runway to Everyday Style
For Fall/Winter 2009 runway fashion, there was an abundance of colors, textures, fabrics, and cuts of beautiful clothing. Here are a few of the prominent looks of the Fall/Winter 2009 runway trends you can crossover into your daily wardrobe. Many of them, you will be able to pull from the archives and some will inspire & require you to hit the stores (it IS a shoppers market so go for it!).

Grey Color Combinations

Grey was used in several fall collections for 2009. Grey was combined with blacks and whites in several collections including Giorgio Armani. It gave the normal monotone look the mixture needed to jazz it up but still offer a sleek and chic fall look.

Giorgio Armani Fall 2009

Volume!

Volume was everywhere: Necklines, skirts, dresses, pants. I love the combination of a voluminous skirt with a fitted jacket as seen in the Ballenciaga and Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 Ready to Wear collection.

Fur

Fur was seen all over the runways including in the fall collections of Hermes and Fendi. Rock a fur trim (or Faux Fur) coat, skirt, or cuffs to turn this runway look into everyday glamour.

Mini Dresses/Short Skirts

If you've got a pair of legs, this will be the fall/winter to show them. Add leggings or tights and a pair of ankle boots or thigh high or ankle boots. For examples, check out Fall 09 lines from Azzaro and Emilio Pucci.

Shoe & Accessory Trends

Thigh High Boots

This type of boot is a fine line between call girl and fashion goddess. Please no patent leather ladies! Suede or a soft leather are both lovely options for this type of boot. Pair it with a short dress/skirt/shorts and tights or a pair of skinny jeans. I am partial to the relaxed fit shorts (reminiscent of a pair of mini slacks) and the thigh high boot as seen in the Chloe collection.

Hats/Headgear

Don't let your head go bare this fall/winter! Stay warm AND fabulous with a stylish beret, hat, or other stylish head adornments. This look was seen in the several designer fall collections such as Azzaro and Max Mara.

Fashion Doesn't Stand Still in a Recession - Spring - Summer Hints and Tips
There may be a recession on but fashion doesn't stand still. Walk through the high street right now and an array of new spring / summer colors, styles and new fabrics are revealed. From prints to plain, from woven's to jersey knits, there really is a huge choice of wonderful fashions and fabrics.

Of course spring is always eagerly awaited and well before the Snowdrops begin to flower the stores are awash with new and exciting spring fabrics. Right now the really hot colour is chartreuse, a wonderful mix of lemon and lime. It really is a striking shade and really says that summer is on the way.

It can be found in plain knits and printed knits to some wonderful summer woven prints and plains. Fabrics such as Viscose jersey and Polyester Satin prints all seem to have a dab of Chartreuse.

Knitted fabrics are particularly strong this season and it will carry on this way well into 2010. From stretch jersey in prints and plains, to fancy knits like frilly fabrics and even fringing. Sequins have been always thought of as a Christmas fabric, but are all around us now, in different designs and colours making this into a truly all year round wonder. It is possible to find big sequins, little sequins, gold sequins, silver sequins, even matt white and matt black which look particularly striking right now.
Fully sequined trousers are so now.

Another favourite woven, denim, has been transformed into a knit. There are some lovely examples of knitted denim fabrics out there now, and the garments they are in look so comfortable, think leggings and you get the picture.

Prints are particularly strong in wovens and knits. From tie-dye to ethnic, to little florals to abstracts. They are all available at the moment, and the colours are just wonderful. Brights seem to be the thing, with fuschia purple jade cornflowers and of course chartreuse making themselves evident. There are some wonderful knitted prints out there right now, snakeskin and animal prints are particularly strong, as are the same prints with foiling or wet look printed over them. This is a great effect and the catwalks were full of this wet look theme which once again shows that what is paraded on the cat walks heavily influences the high street fashion stores.

In woven's, satins have had a good start to the year, this will run through to Autumn. A particularly popular variant is the dull satin which can be found in shirts and dresses right now. Satin always makes colours standout so vividly and this season is no exception. Fuschia and Cornflower and Royal, as well as Dove Grey and Coral particularly in evidence. Through to autumn lovely rich purples and chocolates will give this fabric a new lease of life.

As mentioned earlier, knits are at their strongest right now and this will continue, coming soon will be lots of beautiful Space Dye jersey's as well as some lovely knitted burnout qualities. It really is an exciting time for fabrics.

Made to order clothing:
Order your clothes early and save money.

How to save money on when ordering made to order clothes:

Some time ago I was looking to help Arun taking care of requests for UK and continental Europe when I read an e-mail from a contact in UK.
The email was along the lines of:
<< Please send me a quote for 1000 t-shirts -cotton 220g/m2- in 4 different colors with 4 different printed logos,
I would first need a sample then will order the 1000 tshirts.
I need all the t-shirts to arrive by the 15th December, and of course give me the best possible price. Thanks>>

The email from this client was dated 28th Nov 2008. Which means a very very short deadline.

So I thought it was time to speak about..timing.

If you need your clothes or your clothing line for mid-December like in the example above, then I suggest you speak to your clothing manufacturer well in advance: let's say 4 months in advance because everybody wakes up in November thinking he is the only one to sell more during Christmas period than during the rest of the year.
November and December is not the right time to order clothes. That's because they are bespoke clothes / made to order clothes.
This time of the year is in the fact the time to produce the summer collection, in a rush before the annual closing for all clothing manufacturers at the end of January as it is a time when the whole of Asia stops business to celebrate the Chinese new year.

So when to order the clothes you will sell in December?
Order your winter clothes in July / August, even if it is a small quantity of clothes.

If it is necessary to make samples of the clothes (which is often the case when creating a new collection), then the right time to order your clothes is during the month of June.

Keep in mind that you might prefer to receive your clothes by sea, which can take up to five weeks for the transport alone.
In many cases ordering later than the time suggested above is taking a risk to receive your winter clothes after Christmas period instead of before Christmas as intended.
Order your clothes early or miss the opportunity to other brand makers who know the timing better.

Now to save money, and beat all other quotations, you need to order early enough for your clothing manufacturer to put together several orders.
If this can be made, then the fabric is purchased in a larger quantity hence a better / lower price.
The price of fabric matters as much as 50% in the overall cost of getting clothes manufactured.
This of course depends on a number of factors (size, quantity, dying, printing/embroidery involved or not, etc...) For more information please call or email us.

Knowing this, it would make complete sense to group all orders in June.
This way the purchase of fabric can be done for many clients at the same time during the month of July*, and in the same time group the process of dying then printing in August for sewing in September.

This would allow reducing costs in many ways:
- Purchase of larger quantity of fabric at a better price.
- As long as clients / purchase of clothes can get on the same color, then the cost of dying is shared.
- Miscellaneous driving to and from the suppliers or the administration to obtain certificate of origins are reduced.
- Cost of delivery of the fabric to the sewing factory is reduced.

How would you like to save up to 35% on the production of your clothes?
You run a clothing line? Together we are stronger!
Imagine how you could go even further by teaming up also on the shipping of your clothes.

It's entirely up to you.
In an effort to make the above happen and give a hedge to our customers, we are in the process of setting up a new group which you can join simply by e-mailing us.
This group is a great place to unite, compromise and save.

So, what's the best time to order the summer clothes then?
A good timing for the purchase of fabric would be during the month of November*, dying then printing in December for sewing in January /February / March.
Remember the Chinese new year is in February and business is literally frozen in Asia for almost one month.

*Having one month instead of one week to order fabric is a great way to reduce costs too, as there is less rush for the fabric supplier to make a great offer to the clothing manufacturer.

That definitely is a one million dollar question.
To start a private label is a question of imagination, it's all about you: what fabrics, colours, cut and generally the style you like.
On the other hand, successfully launching a clothing line means it has been created, made available to the final consumer,,,and ideally they like your style.

When there's a buzz, when a new brand of clothes is welcomed by a sufficiently large public, purchased and spoken about, it can decently be said that the fashion line has been successfully launched.

For a fashion line to be successful when launched, one needs to actively prepare for the D day.

I like the term "to launch a clothing line" because it sounds very similar to launching a rocket in the sky:
You calculate a number of factors long in advance, create the rocket and then launch it.
At the time of launching, one do not have any guarantees of anything. Maybe it's why it feels so exciting.

You can only hope that all the hard work of organizing the distribution, the marketing will translate in sales.

Hope? No, Preparation!

Preparation is certainly a keyword.
The idea, in my mind, is to do as much as possible before the launch of the clothing line: market research, partners research, networking, advertising.

We all tend to be optimistic about the figures, we think that the sales will come easy and we underestimate the costs related to the sales.

All successful clothing lines have been launched by business people who know:
- how to create an event
- how to convince potential distributors
- how to give life to the fashion line with a story
- how to keep the clothing line in the stores
- how to satisfy new and returning customers with new styles of clothes.

When you create a fashion brand, your personality matters, some will start small, some big.

Some will have their risk based on research, some on their gut feelings.
It's important to know yourself and your market so that harmony can establish.
Start your clothing line, it might be the best time of your life, it can also be very challenging and rewarding.

To all the ones planning to play a part in fashion and the clothing industry, I would like to wish good luck and remind them that the road to success can be a long one.
Your determination will matter.

How to start a clothing line: More information.

I suggest that you start by creating your Ltd company, register your Brand with the local authorities and purchase the matching domain name even if you don't rely on on-line sales to distribute.
Research your market, find ways to reach your targeted audience. See how you can place your brand in shops.
Do you know someone famous? Associate this person to your business.

Get some samples made, make a list of the changes to be made when mass-producing.
Finally, get a small run delivered to you and communicate on it. Keep in touch with your clothing manufacturer so that you are aware of the righ timing to re-new your stock.

Wholesale Clothing Manufacturers
When you are in the wholesale clothing business, you are into it to make a living i.e. to make a profit from selling clothes.
It is therefore crucial to get your clothes at the lowest possible price.

The best way to cut costs, in the clothing business like in many industries, is to cut the middleman out of the equation and get in direct contact with the clothing manufacturer.
That way, you buy wholesale clothes direct from the clothing factory and avoid additional costs.
That may mean buying clothing wholesale direct from a Chinese manufacturer - or a clothing manufacturer based in an other Asian country such as Thailand as long as the cost of labour is competitive.

What Wholesale means: It is the resale of goods without any transformation of the goods.
That's more or less the definition you will find in the dictionary, however this term is commonly used to mean in large quantity or bulk.

Of course the larger the quantity of clothes purchased the lower the price per item. It's good to keep in mind that the cost of shipping the clothes will be spread over a larger quantity also, thus making the cost per piece lower.
Ideally, you will want to fill up a container of clothes. This will be achieved with around 5000 garments.

From the clothing manufacturer's perspective 5000 garments is a good quantity as it allows for a chain production.
Here I am assuming that all 5000 garments are the same i.e. all 5000 garments are t-shirts, or all 5000 garments are sweaters.

Did you know?
When producing the clothes, it doesn't really matter if all 5000 garments are of the same colour or not. Also, it doesn't matter if all 5000 garments have the same printing or not. The chain works just the same way.

5 Popular Styles For Women's Spring Dresses
Spring dresses for women come in a variety of styles, fabrics, and prints. The most favorable fabrics for spring are usually breezy and lightweight. They offer a flowy, airy look. The most favorable print for spring comes as no surprise: florals.

Spring is synonymous for blooming flowers, in nature and in the fashion world. Regardless of fashion's ever-changing personality, florals always find their way on spring runway shows. They are the perfect way for women to feel feminine and in season. The following women's dress styles are popular for the spring season:

1. The wrap dress

This dress derives its name from the way the dress is tied or rather wrapped around to secure a closure on either the side or front of the dress. This style cinches the waist but can also be cumbersome to keep in place.

2. The sun dress

This dress is not actually a particular style, but it is the name given to dresses that start to appear in the warm weather. It implies a wearable, comfortable, casual fit.

3. The tea dress

On the other end of the spectrum is the tea dress, which by nature has a more elegant, proper appeal. It originated in the UK and now has a worldwide following.

4. The kimono style dress

Further east, we have a dress that was inspired by the Japanese kimono. The kimono style dress borrows some characteristics of the Japanese kimono but is made more wearable by shortening the sleeves, the length and doing without the obi.

5. The shirt dress/polo dress/T-shirt dress

These dress styles look just like shirts, polo's, or T-shirts but with added length. The shirt dress is basically a button-down blouse made into a dress and usually nipped at the waist with a fabric belt.

Of course there are tons of spring dresses out on the market that don't fall into any of the above categories. The key to achieve a spring look is to make sure you look and feel comfortable - like you just threw on the dress, tousled your hair, put on some shades and walked out of the door!

Women's Fashion - Fashion Rules to Live By
8 Rules to follow to ensure you do not make common fashion mistakes. These rules help you look your best and give the best first impression.

1. Buy clothes that fit-This is the number one most important rule to follow. Many women that lack confidence buy oversized clothing thinking that it will hide their imperfections. Unfortunately, the resulting effect is sloppiness and a lack of femininity.

On the other end of the spectrum there are women that buy clothes with the plans to lose weight but never do. Women wearing unflattering tight clothes resemble overinflated Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloons that could pop at any moment.

2. Cover up-Don't show everything to everyone. Showing too much cleavage or wearing too short of skirts may give the distinct impression that you are easy or even selling something. In everyday situations, have some class and practice some modesty.

3. Choose correct undergarments-It is so important to wear the right underwear. One of the worst but most common mistakes made women is showing panty lines when wearing well fitted pants or skirts. This can be avoided by wearing a thong or by choosing clothing that is less tight.

The same applies to bras. Choose bras that fit properly so that people cannot see bra lines or bulging breasts under your clothing. Also, if you're wearing a light-colored shirt, do not wear a black or bright colored bra that can be easily seen through the fabric.

With low riding pants being so popular, it is very common to see a woman's underwear when a woman sits down or bends over. Although common, this is a fashion no-no. Find the correct underwear that can stay hidden during all movement. A general rule to remember about underwear is that it should not be seen while wearing clothing. Its name explains it all: it is meant to be worn under garments.

4. Iron your clothes-It is always a hassle but if your clothes are wrinkled, iron them. Wrinkled clothes give the impression of sloppiness and a general disregard for your appearance. If you really hate ironing avoid buying linen clothes or any fabric that is prone to wrinkling.

5. Dress your age-It is hard to admit your age sometimes, but unfortunately, it is also difficult to hide it. Don't try to hide your age by wearing youthful revealing clothing. This doesn't mean you have to wear grandma panties and cardigans, but rather, just choose clothing that promotes respect and flatters your aging body.

6. Match your shoes with outfit-A general rule is that the color of your shoes should match your outfit or at least the style should match. For example, if you are wearing a nice dress do not wear your casual flip flops with it.

7. Accessorize to compliment-Avoid loud and obnoxious jewelry and accessories that distract from your clothing. Your accessories are meant to compliment your entire outfit, not demand attention to itself.

8. Don't wear too many colors-Combining too many colors in one outfit can look messy and be distracting. As a general rule, only mix two to three colors.

Because first impressions are often gathered by appearance, clothing explains who you are and what you are about. Make sure your clothing reflects your true self rather than detracting from it by following these simple rules. If followed, these women's fashion rules can ensure that your dress will demand respect and at the same time make you attractive.

Garment Labels – Types and Styles
A garment label is more than just a piece of fabric. It communicates with the customer. It is something that draws the attention of the customer to the garment. It describes what the product actually is. In today’s times, labels actually help in selling a garment. Customers decide whether to buy a piece of apparel or not on the basis of its label.

What labels do?

Labels communicate to the customer what types of materials have been used in making the garment. They communicate how to care for the garment and other special instructions about it. They communicate the size of the garment. They communicate the name of the manufacturer. They communicate the brand. Different manufacturers use their own special type of labels to create their own distinct identity. A label might be custom-made by a manufacturer to make it unique. Beautiful, customized labels add to the beauty and style of the garment.

Each brand produced by the manufacturer is usually distinguishable on the basis of a special symbol, color or word. This is reflected through the label. The customer looks to the label of a garment to identify the brand and thereby, gauge the quality of the product.

Production of labels

Garment labels can be made using several fabrics, in different types of finishes and can be attached to the garment in different styles. These decisions depend upon the manufacturer.

Labels can be produced as individual pieces or in the form of a continuous roll. When the production is done in the continuous roll form, individual labels are then cut out and attached to the garment.

Fabrics used in labels

The fabrics that are commonly used in the preparation of labels are satin, damask, semi-damask and taffeta. In some cases, cotton, canvas and felt are also used in making labels. Satin is the most used fabric in preparing labels. Leather labels are generally used in case of jeans and pants. PVC labels are used in pants and bags. Satin is soft on the skin and looks very pretty initially. However, it is not one of the best fabrics to be used in labels because it is very thin and can snag easily. Labels made using taffeta are stiffer than those of satin and do not snag as easily. However, taffeta labels can irritate the skin of the customers. Damask and semi-damask are ideal fabrics for making labels. Damask labels are soft even after finishing and do not cause any irritation to the customer. Semi-damask is similar to damask in feel, but it costs lesser than damask.

Garment Accessories - The Soul of All Garments
Garment accessories like Buckles, Buttons, Hooks, Loops, Zippers, etc. play an important role in making the garment stay at its place when worn. Other garment accessories like Beads, Buckles, Ribbons, Sequins, Belts, Lace, Tassels & Cords, etc. accentuate the beauty of the garment lending it an exquisite appeal. On the other hand, there are some garment accessories, which add to the comfort of the garment like shoulder Pads, Linings, Interlinings, webbings, etc. Badges and logos on the garments usually depict the brand, which manufactures the garment or the name of a company or institution, in case of promotional purposes.

A readymade garment cannot solely be judged merely by the quality of the fabric used. The accessories employed also play a key role in determining the quality of a garment. Thus, good brands always pay great deal of attention in sourcing the most premium grade garment accessories for their range of clothes.

Buttons are one of the most common accessory used in almost all types of clothes. They are available in a number of shapes, sizes, and designs. They may be fabricated in wood, plastic, metal, etc. and sometimes may even be embellished with precious and semi-precious stones. Primarily, buttons serve a utility purpose, like in jeans, shirts, blouses, skirts, etc. But at times, designer buttons are merely attached to a piece of clothing just to enhance its visual appeal.

Lace is an accessory with a very feminine touch. They are usually employed to accessorize women's garments. When attached to skirts, t-shirts (sheer-fabric), etc., they add a hint of playfulness and elegance to the whole attire. Laces made from high quality cotton are often used, which are both soft as well as skin friendly.

Many a garments need zippers and zipper sliders, including jeans, skirts, jackets, etc. They should be strong and durable, to withstand the day to day wear and tear. They often come in a number of sizes and colours, and can also be customized as per the needs and requirements of the users.

Shoulder pads and linings are used for those clothing items, which are usually made from sheer fabrics, or those fabrics, which are silky and slip easily. The shoulder pads attached under the shirts or blouses help them stay on the body and give a definite shape to it. The lining used in clothes is often to beat the transparency of the fabric and also give volume to thin fabrics.

As can be seen form above, garment accessories have an important role to play in the quality of a readymade garment. As I was browsing the Internet, I came across alibaba.com, a B2B web portal, connecting buyers worldwide. Finding that it may be of help to my friend, a garment exporter, I referred it to him. He has not stopped thanking me since then. He, through the web portal, came into contact with thousands of companies supplying garment accessories. Thus, not only was he able to zero in on the best supplier but also cut a cost effective deal; and all this just with the click of the mouse.

Shake What Your Momma Gave You!
How many women have you met that are happy with their hips? I would guess not too many. Most women think they are too large or too small. Hardly anyone is happy with what God gave her.

Luckily, there are quite a few options for this problem area. Fabric, texture, line and design can play a part in hip success or distress. Let us start with texture. Think carefully where you put textured fabric on your body. The eye focuses on the texture of a garment. If you wear a textured fabric on your hips, you are highlighting the area for people to look at.

Fabric textures can help or hinder your figure. If your hips are wide and you do not want them to look wider, do not accentuate the hip are with textured fabric. Keep material smooth and flowing over the hips. If your hips are slim and your build is less curvy then consider adding some weight to your frame by wearing texture on your lower half.

The design of a skirt is also very important. The straight skirt as pictured at right is a good style for most women. The fact that it is longer than it is wide gives the illusion of slimness. Women who have prominent saddlebags should avoid the straight skirt at all costs. The straight skirt will accentuate saddlebags. However, if you have prominent saddlebags and you do not mind shape wear; (undergarments that pull you in from every direction with various amounts of force), then put on the shape wear and the straight skirt. Be very careful and be sure to notice how the saddlebags are faring.

Lines clearly create a visual impact. I hope everyone knows that horizontal lines create a wider and shorter look in a garment. Vertical lines create the illusion of slimness. Be careful how far apart the vertical lines are, if they are too far apart the vertical slimness illusion can be lost.

Decide whether you need to accentuate or camouflage your hips. Any details in the fabric, texture, or line create an area that the eye will be attracted too. Think about where you want attract attention and dress your hips accordingly.

How to Accessorize a Little Black Dress
Versatile, flattering and timelessly elegant, the little black dress is the ultimate must have item in every woman's wardrobe. From classy curve-creating halter necks to the stunning flared hemline, there is an 'LBD' out there to suit every figure. Established by Coco Chanel in the 1920s, the little black dress has gone from strength to strength and today every designer worth his salt, from top catwalk names to budget High Street brands, has a wide range to choose from.

The beauty of the LBD lies largely in its flexibility: whether you're heading to the office or the dancefloor, you can count on your LBD to provide the perfect outfit for every occasion.

Important Meeting
It's the morning of the big presentation, if you can win over this client and make the sale you know that promotion will finally be within your reach. You've spent the last few weeks thinking of nothing else - you've run over the slides a million times and prepared answers for every question they might throw at you; but one thing you haven't planned is what to wear.

Step up the little black dress. For a powerful boardroom look, a neat notched-collar blazer with single button closed will accentuate your waist while retaining a professional appearance. Try Guess or Donna Karan for a great designer treat, or for a blazer that won't break the bank, Topshop has a great range of fashionable yet sophisticated jackets.

Keeping with the simple but classic theme, this look can be tastefully finished with delicate silver jewellery. Choose a pair of small stud earrings, a minimalist silver pendant and a slim silver bracelet to complete your transformation to stylish and successful executive.

Girls' Night Out
So you did, you made the big pitch and you got the sale. Your bosses are delighted, and your colleagues a little envious, but after all that hard work all you really want to do is get out of the office and celebrate with the girls. Well lucky you chose the little black dress; a few simple alterations can take you from the board room to the wine bar in minutes.

Firstly, the aim is to let your hair down so why not literally do just that? For shoulder length to long hair, unpinning your locks and letting them fall freely about your face gives a lovely warm and natural look to accentuate your features. Now for the jewellery; put the simple silver aside and slip on some chunky, funky beads and matching bracelet. Go for a bright colour, such as turquoise or purple, to add a fun and playful twist and finish off with a bright clutch bag to finish the look.

Black Tie Ball
A few months down the line and your well-deserved promotion has taken effect. An invite to the company's annual black tie dinner appears on your desk and your first thought is, "what will I wear?" Well fear not, once again you can count on an LBD to guarantee you'll cut a glamorous and striking figure on the ballroom floor.

For a formal function a strapless dress is always a great choice and accessorizing with real or faux pearls will provide the elegant finishing touches to ensure you stand out from the crowd. A simple string of pearls will draw admiring attention to your shoulders and can be stylishly complemented by a pair of matching drop effect earrings and pearl bracelet. Your make-up essentials can be slipped into a small satin purse and this stunning ensemble glamorously completed with a pair of black strappy sandals. Be sure to wear these in before the event so you can comfortably dance the night away.

Christmas Party
The party season comes around quicker each year but once again an LBD is perfect for creating a timeless festive look. At this time of year it's all about making the most of the long nights and brightening things up with a bit of sparkle. A fun, floaty dress is perfect for getting into the party spirit. Accessorize with warm golden tones and dramatic eye make-up to be sure of a kiss under the mistletoe.

For a bit of glitzy glamour, a pair of golden strappy sandals and matching handbag works wonders. Jewellery should be fun and festive; at this time of year you can afford to be a little more flamboyant. Experiment with costume jewellery or, if you're feeling brave, try a feather boa for that extra playful detail.

Golden Rules
A final word on accessorizing: keep in mind that 'less is more'. Think of your LBD as a canvas on which to create the perfect picture of you. Accessories such as shoes, jewellery and handbags can subtly draw attention to your best features allowing you to create a masterpiece.

How to Pick Timeless Pieces
Fashion is always changing thus it is really very difficult to cope with the trend and latest fashion style. One thing could be in fashion right now and the next day, it is out the window. This is the fashion world and sometimes we just end up buying clothes that we only get to wear once or twice. We don't really get the most value for our money and we sometimes end up with a messy, disorganized closet.

Thus, it is very important to differentiate fad from fashion, what is current or classic and what is just a trend that would not stay. The best thing for you to do now is find pieces that are timeless and would never go out of fashion. Here are a few tips that could help you in your search for timeless and classic pieces.

Qualities to Look For

When looking for clothes that would really give you your money's worth, one of the first things to consider is color. Try to stick to neutral colors like black, white and beige. Consider the little black dress as an example. Every girl must have a little black dress in her closet. A black dress is easy to dress up and dress down just by adding a colorful sweater, a bright big belt or a soft, sheer shawl. Plus, black never goes out of style and is always in fashion.

The Color

What changes is the material that is the "in thing". Right now, it could be velvet or satin and the next it could change to lace and cotton. What is important to remember is to try to pick out a gown that fits you and compliments your figure. Clothes in neutral colors are easy to update and just a little dash of color or an accessory that is in fashion would update the look and make it seem modern.

After checking out the color, you also have to check out the style. Stick to classic and simple styles. It could be a versatile piece like a white button down shirt. You can use this as a cover up for your tank tops and pair it with jeans for a more casual look. You could also opt to dress it up by wearing a bold, big belt and pair it with tailored pants.

The Material

Next, consider the material of the piece. Some materials are seasonal like velvet and corduroy. Stay with neutral materials that you could wear for any season and keep away from corduroy and linen. Stick to shirts and blouses with a hint of lace or made of satin or cotton, these materials are more neutral.

Look for bags with clean lines and as much as possible stick to solid colors. Plaids may be in season right now and a lot bags in plaid are coming out. Soon enough it will fade and you will just find yourself with so many plaid bags you don't know what to do with. A handbag in black is always appropriate so better get one for yourself.

Learn to distinguish what is fashion and what is fad. Though things are changing, there are some essentials that continue to be timeless.

From Plain to Pretty in an Instant
Are there times when you just want to wear something comfortable and not have to worry whether you look fashionable or not? If you are in this stump, then don't worry for you are not alone. Many women just find themselves in a fashion rut and getting out of it is really tiring.

Give yourself a break - you don't always have to become a slave to fashion. Fashion is not always like choosing between what's comfortable and what looks good. You can find a balance between the two and hopefully, these few quick 'glam up' items will help you when you lose fashion inspiration.

Quick 'Glam Up' Pieces You Must Have

Eyeglasses are the rave these days. It can turn your plain clothes and outfit into something that's effortlessly cool. Wear your favorite pair of sunglasses and strut out like your favorite model or wear simple eyeglasses and be your preppy self. Wearing eyeglasses is definitely one way that you can update your look without much trouble or hassle. Plus, it is the perfect answer if you didn't have enough sleep and your eyes are covered with big dark circles.

Hats come in a variety of ways and are godsend if you are suffering from bad hair days. Sometimes, you just don't have the time to make a perfect updo and a cute hat might be your lifesaver. Of course, it could become obvious that you are hiding your bad hair day so don't wear hats if you are going to be staying indoors most of the time. This 'trick' is only acceptable if you are outdoors and would need a hat. If you still don't have the time to style your hair or is just too lazy to deal with it, then a hair band is perfect for you. Hair bands are in fashion these days and just a simple, modern headband could give you the "nonstop-hair-styling" reprieve that you are looking for.

Bags are also perfect for they are not only functional, they are also fashionable. Even if you are just wearing a pair of jeans and white shirt, you can update that look by using a fashionable big bag. Consider your bag as a form of accessory that you wear to make a simple, plain outfit look well-thought off and pulled-together. Pair it with comfortable flats in a color that compliments your bag and you are good to go.

You can also wear a belt to make your outfit look more fashionable. Try wearing a big belt a little above your waist when you are wearing a dress to clinch your waist and give you more of a curve. You could wear skinny belts with jeans or skirts. Belts are in fashion today and you can play around with belts if you want color and style to your plain and simple outfit.

Those are just a few tricks that you can use to make a simple outfit look fashionable in an instant.

Add Color to Your Usual Plain Outfit
If you want to make an outfit more interesting, then there's no better way to do it by adding up a couple of accessories or two. It is important to make sure that accessories compliment your outfit, except of course if what you really wanted was to let the accessory shine and be seen from the sidelines.

It's easy to wear neutral colors so you don't make fashion mistakes but it becomes boring after sometime. So here are a few ways where you can add a dash of color to your otherwise boring and dull outfit.

Play With Colors in Little Ways

Maybe the reason why you are having problems with fashion is because you take it too seriously. There is really no pin-point all-guide book to fashion and most of the time, we learn it through experience. We realize what looks good and what doesn't, through experimenting with new styles, new colors and new textures. Consider this next project as something fun and a great way for you to discover more styles that suit you.

A little bit of jewelry gives your outfit the needed boost and a little interest. Consider the impact that you want to achieve. If you want it big and flashy, then consider having chunky beaded necklaces or huge bangles. Just remember to downplay everything else, by wearing another jewelry, so if you are wearing chunky beaded necklaces then try to just wear a simple, rubber wristwatch in black or neutral colors. You could also wear a pin or a brooch to give your outfit instant glam.

Also consider the time of the day and the event that you are going to. Big chunky beaded necklaces might be good on a night out with friends but it is inappropriate when you wear it at your friend's kiddie's party. Just make sure that you consider the impact of the accessory you are wearing and as always, depend on common sense when choosing.

Belts are also in fashion these days and make it very easy to go from plain to glam in a minute. Wear big thick belts around your waist to clinch it and give you more of a figure. You could also wear skinny belts with your jeans to add a little more color and fun to your usual plain outfit. If you are not sure with colors, then the best thing to do is introduce it in little ways and wearing colored belts is one of the best things to do.

If you want to play more with colors, then try wearing a fun, colorful pair of socks instead of just the usual white or black. Just make sure that it is appropriate for you wouldn't want to get caught in an office meeting wearing Elmo socks now, would you?

Finally, experiment with your hair, after all, it is your crowning glory. Deviate from the usual ponytail and add cute hair clips with a little dash of color or add a button clip in front of your ponytail to give it an updated look. Always ask yourself if there are still ways to improve an outfit.

Designer Clothing Facts
From the center stage to your very own closet, designer clothing has steadily become part of the mainstay for many people wanting to stay trendy and always in the latest styles. However doing so is no cheap task as these designer clothing options only appear to continue increasing in prices. From brand names that at one point in time could be bought for $35-$50, they are quickly increasing into the $100 or more range.

The important thing to keep in mind when choosing to wear designer clothing is not so much the price. While you are paying for a name, with that name also comes the quality that is not available anywhere else. While most people would not go out and purchase a pair of Tommy Jeans and expect to wear them for years, the quality selection of fabrics used in designer clothing can allow them to last longer than any cheap knock-offs.

It is not just about the style or the costs for some people. While there are many that choose a particular brand name because of their favorite celebrity, others choose the products for their superior quality. It is no understatement that brands like Polo and Calvin Klein will last you for a very long time. They may be highly priced, but that does not always mean that you have to treat them like a sheet of gold leaf. Of course for your investment you would not want to do too much in them that would risk their damage.

What Designer Clothes to Buy in 2009
Many people may be wondering what the must have designer clothes are for 2009. However unlike any other year, this is a very hard question to answer. As it is, the ending of the 2008 fashion season is in the midst of a world-wide recession much like any other person in the world. As a result, the four fashion capitals of the world were unable to supply a single must have item for this years collections. When the designers first started developing the 2009 collections in places like New York, Milan, Paris and London, there was no telling that the average person would not be able to cope with some of the higher fashions. As a result, the concept of daily wear was left virtually undisturbed much as it is every year.

As a result, most retailers were not very impressed with the New Year's collection of designer fashion trends so it is very unlikely that you will see anything really new at local stores until at least the summer. With this in mind though, there are still many must have designer clothes that anyone should have. These designers come from names like Dolce and Gabbana as well as Calvin Klein and others are still the must have brands to own. So as long as your budget allows for the purchasing of designer clothes, then the best suggestion is to stick with the well known designer brand names.

Well known designer brands will be here for a long time to come, so sticking with these is probably a good idea in the New Year - just remember to look for the bargains.

10 Ways to Dress 10 Pounds Thinner
Dressing 10 pounds thinner is easy to do when you understand it is all about creating vertical lines and eliminating horizontal breaks. You can use your clothes to help you look taller and thinner by creating long vertical lines.

Here are ten ways you can dress at least ten pounds thinner:

1. Wear the same color head to toe. Darker colors are best, as they make you appear smaller. The way to look your absolute thinnest is to wear head to toe black.

2. Match your belt to your pants or skirt color to eliminate an additional horizontal break.

3. I'm sure you already know to avoid horizontal stripes, but also avoid prints that have a horizontal pattern. To determine the pattern of a print, squint your eyes so the print is slightly blurry and you will be able to tell if the overall pattern is vertical or horizontal. Vertical stripes are always good.

4. Wear short sleeves, three-quarter length sleeves or roll up your sleeves and use your arms to create two vertical lines. Check this one in the mirror - long sleeves can make you look heavier. Push up your sleeves and look at the difference it makes.

5. Did you ever notice how much thinner men look when they are wearing a jacket and tie? Wear an open jacket, blazer or big shirt and create two vertical lines. Roll up your sleeves and you'll really look great. One of my favorite looks is to wear the same dark color shell, pants and shoes (usually black, but it could be navy, dark gray or brown) and wear a bright colored blazer or jacket. Your jacket or top should end either above or below the biggest part of your body. If the hem ends at the largest part, you will look heavier.

6. Match your hemline, hose and shoes. If you can't do that, wear the same color neutral hose and shoes. If you wear a dark skirt, light hose and dark shoes, you are creating three horizontal breaks. Wear medium to high heel shoes to elongate your legs.

7. Wear a long chunky necklace or a long oblong scarf draped around your neck. While you are at it, go for bigger earrings (over one inch in diameter) to draw attention up to your face.

8. V-neck tops and button up blouses create vertical lines, make your neck appear longer and draw attention up to your face.

9. Skirts and dresses that are slimmer cut and even tapered at the hem will make you look thinner, even if you are plus sized.

10. Select pants that have a straight leg from the hip to the hem. Tapered pants that are smaller at the hem make most people look heavier. Boot cut and slightly flared pants can help create more balance.

Dresses For Parties and Glamorous Fun
The good news about dresses is that women of all sizes can wear them and look a million dollars for parties and gatherings all year round. Indeed, a classic party dress will stand you in good stead and of course you can opt for on-trend styles if being fashion forward is more your thing.

The key to finding a party dress to wow and dazzle is understanding what cuts best suit your body shape as well as choosing accessories to compliment your glitzy garments.

If you have an hourglass figure, a V-line dress will flatter your chest and make the most of some of your best assets. Opt for fabrics that mold to your chest as opposed to swamping it, and balance your upper and lower half by adding texture below the waist. Halter neck dresses are another great buy for curvy figures as they balance out proportions and boost all the best bits.

If curves are what you're lacking, cut-out fabrics work better. Angular body shapes can be softened with necklines that add interest to your chest area. Add a little oomph to curves on your lower half by picking an ensemble that's flared at the bottom.

Bold prints also work wonders on svelte-hipped girls who want to create curves, and tulip-shaped skirts on party dresses will cinch in your waist and add volume to hips which is precisely what you want to do. And if you want to add volume up top then use ruffles to create the illusion of cleavage. Smock topped dresses can achieve this too.

Everyone has body parts they want to flaunt and those they want to draw attention away from. If your upper arms are one of the areas you want to keep under cover then choose a V neckline with a cap sleeve for the perfect fashion fix.

Pear-shaped girls should choose fabrics that skim the hips. A classic strapless dress can be worn to parties all year round and if they are fitted down to your waist and then flared out in an A-line, this creates the perfect shape for your body.

Furthermore, if a stripy dress is what you're after then vertical stripes are slimming on everyone but especially good for petite women who want to appear taller. As it goes, if you are a tall woman and you want to draw attention across the body rather than up then horizontal dresses are best suited.

The accessories worn with party dresses finish the outfit so think carefully about these too. Wearing heels adds instant glam to party outfits, therefore select a style with pointed toes if you want to elongate your legs.

Belts can be used to dress your outfit up or down and create a different look if you have more than one party to attend. In addition, belts worn high on the waist accentuate an hourglass figure and vintage buckles and clasps add a touch of chic detailing. So, what are you waiting for; it's time to go shopping!
